In this series, we are seeking to support young/teen mothers (all mothers are welcome) in the Brightmoor neighborhood and across Metro Detroit. The initiative offers nutrition education, breastfeeding workshops, and access to healthy meals-key tools to improve the health of both mothers and their babies. The Baby Bond: Childbirth Education Sessions w/ Hitha Healing House
Expectations vs Reality: Physical and emotional changes in pregnancy and postpartum, recognizing warnging sights (e.g. preeclampsia, postpartum depressions), and self-advocacy.
Step Up For Success
Neighborhood Empowerment Initiative, in partnership with Faith Gardens Community Center, is hosting a Back-to-School Rally + Shoe Giveaway on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 12 PM – 4 PM at 17600 Chester Street, Detroit, MI 48224.
🎒 Students in PreK–12th grade can receive a free pair of brand-new shoes, enjoy food, music, games, and community fun - all while supplies last.
✔️ Registration is required to be considered for a pair of shoes.
✔️ Shoes distribution will be first-registered, first-served based on availability.
✔️ One form must be completed for each child you are registering.
